Hi friends!
In this video i share how Vyvanse | Elevanse affected me the first month of taking it. So thank you for being here, and for following me on this journey.
Being diagnosed as an adult, has been extremely eye opening for me.
So i really hope this video will contribute with some kind of help to someone, that is looking around, maybe wondering about what i share today.
For a good part of my life I thought I was dumb. That was actually the worst part of my life. While my siblings were able to earn honors, I struggled at school. Is that what they call it? I can't recall. Naturally, I assumed that the problem was me. As do many researchers and educators, I now realize that brainpower is not the problem for many students and adults. It's how your brain learns best.
When I buy something that has a lot of instructions written on it, I get overwhelmed. Instead, I prefer to read a few words with lots of illustrations. (Thank you, Ikea! )

My advice comes from first-hand experience as an ADHD person myself. Using visual progression tracking and goal prioritisation methods, you can develop a useful strategy to override your weaknesses as a person with ADHD.
Step 1: Get to know yourself (How do you normally get things done?) Step 2: Be Kind to yourself (Be realistic and stop pushing yourself so hard) Step 3: Break down End-Goals into small, easier achievements to avoid overwhelm Step 4: Compare your current position to your past position: Where are you now?
So here is an update finally! I hope you all enjoy it! Below you can find a list of the topics that I touch on.
Does the medication still work for me?
How do I deal with the nausea?
Do I take it every day?
Do I recommend concerta?
Concerta side effects for me now?
How do you get tested for ADHD?
-there are some online evaluations
-but if you would like to gain the benefits of a diagnosis go to a professional. You can visit your local behavior health practice and see a psychiatrist.
How have I been coping with ADHD?
Do I recommend taking medication?
How do I deal with feelings of inadequacy due to my ADHD and learning disability/ dealing with depression?
Getting my diagnosis as an adult and being in the workforce.
Personality changes.
Somethings I found to be helpful with taking my medication.

This video can help you identify signs and symptoms that indicate anxiety in children if you are concerned about them having anxiety.
There are many types of childhood anxiety, including OCD, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (also called OCD), separation anxiety disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Children with generalized anxiety may experience excessive worry about things that don't matter and a tendency toward perfection.
Children with OCD, or obsessive-compulsive disorder, will often be overwhelmed by a series of tasks and rituals. They will find it difficult to function until they are done. This is especially common for children 10 and older.
Children with social anxiety disorder are often able to not make friends and answer questions in class. These children are often seen as introverted and shy.
Separation anxiety can manifest in children as excessive crying, anger, and a feeling that they are homesick when they are far from their parents. It is also accompanied by an uncontrollable fear.
Post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, is a condition that occurs when children have suffered traumatic events like the death of a parent. It can cause symptoms such as irritability and a refusal to visit certain places or talk to certain people.
Children suffering from phobias may experience tantrums, headaches, and crying. As an irrational fear, these children will avoid certain situations.
Children with selective mutism will find it difficult to find their voices when they are in stressful situations.
Children suffering from panic disorder may experience increased heart rate, nausea, dizziness and fear. Panic disorders are when a child experiences more than two panic attacks at once.

About Me:
I'm Emma McAdam. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and have worked in many settings of growth and change since 2004.. My experience includes juvenile corrections as well as wilderness therapy programs, adventure therapy programs and eating disorder treatment centers. I also work in an outpatient therapy center.
My therapy uses a combination Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Systems Theory. Positive psychology is also used. I also use a bio-psychosocial approach to treat mental illness and other problems we all face. My videos often incorporate ideas from multiple sources. Many of these ideas are based on Acceptance and Commitment therapy, particularly the work of Jason Luoma and Steven Hayes. The section on stress and the mind/body connection is based on the work of Stephen Porges (the Polyvagal Theory), Peter Levine, Somatic Experiencing), Francine Shapiro and Bessel Van der Kolk. The work of the Arbinger Institute is a major source of my understanding of how we can choose the direction of our lives.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is deeper than that. It orients my personal worldview, sense of security, peace and hope, as well as my love and respect e

http://adhdinadults.com Dr. Lenard Adler describes the story of a male in his 40's that was diagnosed and treated for Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) shortly after his child was tested and diagnosed. Identifying ADHD symptoms in children often leads to a better understanding of attention deficit disorder for parents. In this success story, the parent recognized similar symptoms in his own life, which he had previously coped with to the best of his ability. Adler recommends that parents be screened for ADHD if their child has been diagnosed.

We all know that ADHD is extremely challenging to live with but it certainly does not excuse us from ever trying to improve ourselves. Too many times people with ADHD (myself included) will use ADHD as an excuse or crutch to justify why they did certain things.
Don't get me wrong I know it is tough to live with ADHD and it takes an extra effort on our part to go the extra mile to improve ourselves one day at a time. If we are wanting to improve our life, relationships and keep our jobs/business we have to take a serious look in the mirror and realize we can do better and we must do better and not use ADHD as an excuse on everything that goes wrong in our life.
Today I want to address this difficult topic but is something that really needs to be discussed about and something you really need to hear so you can change your mindset about how you use ADHD as a crutch.
