Inattentiveness, impulsive behavior and hyperactivity are generally common for children and teenagers. This behavior can be called Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) if it is severe. These children behave differently from other children their age.
ADHD is also known as Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Two parts make up the symptoms of the disorder. Hyperactivity and Attention deficit.
These symptoms are: Inattention, inattention, missing details, rushing, not listening when spoken to, difficulty organizing work, difficulty finishing it, dislikes or avoids tasks that require sustained mental effort, losing thins or being forgetful.
Hyperactivity symptoms include
Fidgeting, making small movements of the hands or feet, particularly in nervousness or impatience. Feeling like an "internal driver" is always going. Talking excessively, out of tune, interrupting, or intruding on the conversations of others. These symptoms should be present in multiple settings.
ADHD patients have difficulties with attention, focus, and decision making. ADHD children can have difficulties with social interaction, be frustrated easily, and be impulsive. These children are known as "troublemakers". "
ADHD symptoms can begin as early as 6 years of age. However, the symptoms should not be diagnosed until they reach the age of 12.
These symptoms must have been present for at least six months and should not interfere with your daily activities.
ADHD can have serious consequences. It can lead to increased social interactions, increased risky behavior such as drug abuse or antisocial behaviour, loss of employment, and difficulty achieving academic and professional goals.
ADHD must be considered in the context of what is culturally and developmentally appropriate for each individual.
Adult hyperactivity can be replaced by inner restlessness in adults. Adults often learn coping skills to deal with their impairments.
ADHD's etiology is influenced by a number of factors, including both genetic and environmental.
ADHD could be due to impaired dopaminergic function or decreased dopaminergic receptors within the frontal lobes. There aren't any confirmed causes.
ADHD is a condition that affects approximately 4% to 12% school-aged children around the world.
ADHD affects 4 to 5% college-aged students and adults. ADHD is twice as common in boys than it is in girls.
There are three main types: 1. Predominantly inattentive. Predominantly hyperactive.
3. And 3.
ADHD treatment can include: a combination of medication, counseling, lifestyle changes, and/or counseling.
Psychological therapies include behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and interpersonal psychotherapy. They also include school-based interventions such as social skills training, behavioral peer intervention, and organization training.
Stimulant medication are the best form of pharmaceutical treatment.
Amphetamines are stimulants, as is methylphenidates.
Both stimulants are able to block dopamine reuptake at the postsynaptic and presynaptic cells.
ADHD treatment is largely based on stimulants. They work in 70% patients.
Side effects of stimulants can include increased blood pressure, decreased appetite, sleep quality, and the risk of dependence. ADHD patients are at greater risk for substance abuse. Studies show that treating them with stimulants can reduce their lifetime risk of using drugs.
There are two types of non-stimulant options: alpha agonists and antidepressants. Atomoxetine, which works as an inhibitor of selective norepinephrine receptor uptake, is the most well-known antidepressant. Although it has been shown to be effective in ADHD treatment trials, it is not as effective as stimulants.

Do you have the newest eating disorder—it has to do with snacking and binge eating. Let's find out. Step 1: />

0: 23 Do you have this binge eating disorder?
1: 05 The drug for a binge eating disorder
1: 38 Side effects of Vyvanse
2: 05 My opinion on snacking and binge eating
2: 13 How to stop binge eating
Could your snacking or binge eating be a medical disease? In this video, we're going to find out.
The newest eating disorder is called Binge Eating Disorder or (B.E.D).
Signs of a binge eating disorder:
• Excessive eating at least 1 time a week for 3 months
• Eating every 2 hours
• Eating more rapidly
• Eating until uncomfortable
• Eating alone
• Feeling guilty after eating
• Being on a fad diet where you cut out food groups
• Engaging in sporadic fasting and binging
There is a drug for a binge eating disorder called Vyvanse. This is a new application of an old drug that has been used for other things. It's the only FDA approved solution for this disease.
Side effects of a Vyvanse:
• Sudden cardiac death
• Stroke
• Significant high blood pressure
• Psychosis
• High rate of abuse
• Seeing and hearing things
I am definitely not promoting Vyvanse as the solution to this disease. It's my opinion that snacking and binge eating is not a medical disease. I think it's a normal thing that a lot of people go through, and if they just did healthy keto combined with intermittent fasting, their need for snacks would go down.

Best-selling author, blogger, speaker, and friend Stephanie Sarkis returns to the podcast on this episode. A blog post by Stephanie was recently viral and she was interviewed by CNN. This article was about "gaslighting" and she joins me for this episode to talk about the topic and the issues that surround it.
We use Stephanie's blog post on gaslighting as a jumping off point for a discussion about the current political climate. We discuss how the current political climate affects us as individuals. Stephanie shows us how to take care of ourselves and how to have constructive conversations with people we disagree with.
This episode will feature some of my political views. ADHD reWired has more to offer than just a podcast. We are a community. I hope to connect people so they can learn from one another. Although these conversations may seem difficult, I hope they can help us all be better listeners, communicators and citizens.

About Me:
I'm Emma McAdam. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and have worked in many settings of growth and change since 2004.. My experience includes rehabilitation for juveniles, wilderness therapy programs and adventure therapy programs. I also have expertise in a residential treatment center for eating disorders, as well as a clinic that treats outpatients.
My therapy uses a combination Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Systems Theory. Positive psychology is also used. I also use a bio-psychosocial approach to treat mental illness and other problems we all face. My videos often incorporate ideas from multiple sources. Many of these ideas are based on Acceptance and Commitment therapy, particularly the work of Jason Luoma and Steven Hayes. The section on stress and the mind/body connection is based on the work of Stephen Porges (the Polyvagal Theory), Peter Levine, Somatic Experiencing), Francine Shapiro and Bessel Van der Kolk. The work of the Arbinger Institute is a major source of my understanding of how we can choose the direction of our lives.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is deeper than that. It orients my personal worldview, sense of security, peace and hope, as well as my love and respect e

MY MISSION
To raise awareness about non-hyperactive ADHD (what I call "Hidden ADHD") to help others who are struggling with it. I want them to know what they can do about it. I want them to know that they're not lazy, unmotivated, and willfully irresponsible. I want them to know they can realize their potential and create the life of their dreams.
