How I Accidentally Stumbled Upon The

Secrets That Changed My Game For Good…

I used to REALLY struggle with my game over the years.

Because I work at a full-time regular job… it was tough to keep all the aspects of my game sharp.

So I consistently scored in the 90s and 100s. I just figured that’s where I’d be forever.

But since I was sick and tired of not being able to play up to the level I knew I was capable of… I went on a personal mission and spent years studying a TON of books, tapes, and videos on how to play better golf.

I devoured information on improving every single area of my game… like driving balls further and straighter, chipping and pitching better shots that land closer to the pin, and sinking putts from further distances.

And sure enough, my “mechanics” became consistently good and I became a pretty good golfer. But I just knew I could do better.

When I landed a pretty good size bonus at work… I decided to book a month’s worth of lessons with one of our local golf pros. I was going to pay this instructor A LOT of money to teach me one thing: How to REALLY play the game of golf WELL.

"In this episode, I catch up with Savannah LeJeune a Colorado-based photographer to talk about how PMDD (pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder) impacts her ADHD.
Living with PMDD

She discovered she has PMDD before her diagnosis of ADHD. After leaving college, Savannah was living in LA and working in the fast-paced film industry.

She experienced what she describes as extreme mood swings before her period would start. After reading up about PMS Savannah felt what she experienced went beyond 'normal' PMS.

Once a month she found couldn't cope with day-to-day tasks because she felt exhausted and unmotivated. Savannah started to see the link between the lead-up to her period and when she struggled.

Finding answers

Savannah decided to move home to Colorado and sort help from a therapist who specialized in PMDD. The therapist suggested Savannah might also have ADHD and encouraged her to see a psychiatrist.

She found the first psychiatrist dismissive of her experience and sort a second opinion who diagnosed her with ADHD.

ADHD & PMDD - the hormonal link

Like many of my previous guests have discussed, the drop in estrogen before a period starts can make managing ADHD a lot harder. For Savannah, having PMDD means the volume has been turned up on her symptoms.

Working with her psychiatrist, Savannah has found taking Vyvanse for her ADHD and Prozac for her PMDD has made a world of difference. She explains she feels good four weeks out of the month instead of three.

She encourages other people to keep trying and find someone who will listen to them.

What is Apathy? How To Break Past It.

Apathy is one of those mental states that can be very debilitating. You really don’t care about anything. Apathy can be defined as reduced motivation to engage in goal-directed activities across 3 domains: Initiative, Interest and Emotional responsiveness.

You can overcome apathy by working to achieve a flow state which is a positive mental state where you are absorbed in activities that are sufficiently challenging to keep you interested but are not too hard for you to feel mastery and control over the activity. What you do to get into a flow state depends on how you are wired. The assessment at the Flow Genome Project can give you some ideas of activities that you can pursue.

What is Apathy? How to Break Through It.

Apathy is one of those mental states that can be very debilitating. It’s not like you care about anything. It can be described as a reduced desire to engage in goal-directed activities within 3 domains: Interest, Initiative, and Emotional responsiveness.

A flow state is a state of positive mental health where you are fully engaged in challenging activities but not so difficult that you feel like you have complete control. This can help you overcome apathy. How wired you are will determine what you can do to achieve a flow state. You can get some ideas from the Flow Genome Project assessment.
