To clarify: I am not suggesting that there is a "girl" or a "boy" form of ADHD. Any gender can have the hyperactivity component, and any gender can be primarily inattentive. 0: 00 Introduction
1: 26 Reasons for Social Anxiety Disorder
2: 29 Signs and symptoms of social anxiety disorder
3: 23 Treatment of Social Anxiety Disorder
4: 05 Treatment for Social Anxiety Disorder

Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is also known as socialphobia. It causes anxiety and fear in social situations. This can lead to significant distress and impairment in daily living. [2] 15 Fears can be triggered either by actual or perceived scrutiny from others. Social anxiety disorder sufferers fear being judged negatively by others.

Excessive blushing, excessive sweating, trembling and palpitations are all common physical symptoms. Rapid speech and possibly some Stammering could be signs. Panic attacks can also be caused by extreme fear or discomfort. To reduce their fear and inhibitions during social events, some sufferers might resort to alcohol or other drugs. Social phobia sufferers may self-medicate by using alcohol or other drugs, particularly if they are not diagnosed or treated. This can lead to an eating disorder, alcohol abuse disorder, or any other type of substance use disorder. SAD can sometimes be called an illness of lost chances, where individuals make major life decisions to address their illness. [3][4] According to ICD-10 guidelines, the main diagnostic criteria of social phobia are fear of being the focus of attention, or fear of behaving in a way that will be embarrassing or humiliating, avoidance and anxiety symptoms. [5] Standardized rating scales are available to screen for anxiety disorders and assess the severity of anxiety.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is the first line of treatment for social anxious disorder. Social phobia can be treated with SSRIs, particularly paroxetine. This disorder can be treated with CBT, either in an individual or group setting. [8] Cognitive and behavioral components aim to alter thought patterns and physical reactions in anxiety-inducing situations. With the marketing and approval of medications for treatment, social anxiety disorder has received a lot more attention than 1999. Prescribed medications include several classes of antidepressants: selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), and monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). Beta blockers and benzodiazepines are also common medications.

The Connection Between Anxiety and Stomach Problems

featured image

There’s a bidirectional relationship between gastrointestinal disorders and anxiety. This relationship is thought to be controlled by a gut-brain connection. Research studies have concluded that there is signaling between the gut and the brain that affects the way we think and behave.

So what does this mean? It means that having a disorder like GERD or Irritable Bowel Syndrome and perhaps even colitis can cause anxiety as well as depression.

Why does this matter? It matters with how you handle the anxiety. The usual medication treatment for anxiety is serotonin enhancing antidepressants like Prozac or Zoloft. But one of the main side effects of those drugs is gastrointestinal distress like nausea, diarrhea or constipation. So they can make your gastrointestinal illness worse. It may not, some people with GERD who take acid reducing medication can do okay with one of these antidepressants. But not all do.

So knowing that the anxiety medication can worsen your symptoms, an alternative approach may be to focus on getting the optimal treatment for your gastrointestinal symptoms first and then using cognitive behavioral strategies to address your anxiety.

The microbiome is the trillions of microorganisms, called microbes that inhabit your body. The microbes include bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses and most of them live in your small and large intestines.

There are some preliminary studies suggesting that probiotics that contain certain bacteria like lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium could help treat mental disorders. But the research into this intervention is still in the early stages and we are not able to say take this much probiotic to treat this disorder.

Healthy food produces good microbes. A good place to start with building a healthy microbiome is eliminating sugar and processed food and eating a clean diet. This would be food that reduces inflammation.

Download the guide /

The take home – if you have gastrointestinal problems like GERD or Irritable Bowel Syndrome – these illness can cause anxiety. So make sure you prioritize having the gastrointestinal problem treated – don’t ignore it thinking it’s probably just stress. Because ignoring it could then trigger a bigger problem of anxiety for you. Also, you want to take a serious look at your diet. It could make it big difference with how you feel without the need for taking another medication to get rid of your anxiety.

Difference between DEXAMPHETAMINE & METHYLPHENIDATE in ADHD | ADDERALL | RITALIN | DR REGE EXPLAINS

featured image

DEXAMPHETAMINE and METHYLPHENIDATE are medications used to treat Attention-deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Dr Rege, Consultant Psychoiatrist, explains the differences.
#adhd #adderall #ritalin #vyvanse #dexamphetamine #methylphenidate #amfetamine

Methylphenidate (MPH)
Mechanism of Action:
Non-competitively, Methylphenidate blocks the reuptake dopamine/noradrenaline into terminals by blocking dopamine transporter and noradrenalinetransporter (NAT). This increases levels of dopamine/noradrenaline within the synaptic cortex.

Amphetamine can be classified as a d and l-isomer.
The active isomer is the d-isomer.
Mechanisms of Action :
1. Competing with noradrenaline and dopamine at NAT, competitive inhibitor at DAT
2. VMAT
Competitive inhibitor3. Reversal of DAT.
