There are many strengths that go along with our ADHD symptoms. There are many strengths that you can express and which ones you might have. It all depends on your individual situation.
To be clear, ADHD is NOT a legitimate disorder. I'm not suggesting that we should avoid treatment. I'm on Vyvanse and believe in multimodal treatment to help us overcome our challenges and find our strengths.

ADHD in Children: k
This post is not written by a doctor. This content is not intended to be used for diagnosing, treating, preventing, or curing any medical condition.
Controversy sells, and the media knows it. A lot of the information we hear, see and read about ADHD and ADHD treatment is either misleading or meant to scare us.
Netflix’s “Take Your Pills”, a new documentary (interview with producers) is no exception. This is why I am upset: The film, despite raising many legitimate concerns, contributes to confusion, stigma, and fear surrounding stimulant medication. Many of the experts featured either have no background in research, benefit directly from spreading fear and misinformation about ADHD treatment or are not qualified to speak on these subjects.
This is a problem because — as this study showed (- “Inaccurate media reports surrounding ADHD treatment and its treatments [have] major impacts on parental decision making when it comes to treatment.”
There has been a lot of research on stimulant medication. You and your doctor will be able to decide what is best for you and your child based upon facts, not fear.
This is Dr. Hallowell’s complete response to “Take Your Pills” Dr. Hallowell is a psychiatrist and leading ADHD expert who’s written over 20 books on ADHD, including “Driven to Distraction” and “Delivered From Distraction” and is finishing up his memoir, which you can pre-order here: /

NCMH research champion Laura discusses why she chose to take part in the Centre's mental health research.
ABOUT NCMH
The National Centre for Mental Health (NCMH) is working to find out more about what causes mental health problems such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD and PTSD.
NCMH is made up of researchers from Cardiff, Swansea and Bangor Universities, and funded by Health and Care Research Wales.
We aim to improve life for people affected by mental health problems by supporting and undertaking mental health research, raising awareness of mental health issues and fighting stigma.
Together we can make a difference for mental health.
Social anxiety disorder is one of the most common anxiety disorders, affecting between 7 and 13% of the population. People with social anxiety disorder tend to feel quite nervous or uncomfortable in social situations. They are very concerned that they will do something embarrassing or humiliating, or that others will think badly of them. These individuals are very self-conscious and constantly feel "on stage." Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a mental health problem that usually appears in childhood, generally from the age of 7, and is classified as a behavioral disorder. It is characterized, hence its name, because children are hyperactive (excessive physical activity), impulsive and have problems keeping their attention on a single activity continuously.
All this leads to problems in school performance, as well as in their personal relationships with friends, teachers and their own family.
Causes of ADHD
The causes of ADHD are not known, although the different studies that have been carried out in this regard suggest that there is an important genetic component, to the point that some experts consider that there is a 76% chance that the children of a person with this disorder also develop it. Likewise, the most recent studies consider that the family environment (unstructured homes) and the social environment (conflictive relationships) can only act as drivers of the symptoms, but not contribute to the appearance of the disease.

Methylphenidate is also known as the brand names: Concerta, Daytrana, Metadate, Ritalin, and Quillivant.
Methylphenidate comes in a tablet, capsule, transdermal patch, and oral suspension dosage form.
Methylphenidate is most commonly used for attention deficit problems with hyperactivity (ADHD). It could also be prescribed for other reasons, talk with your doctor or pharmacist. If methylphenidate is taken throughout the day. take the last dose by 3pm to avoid issues falling asleep.
Standard dosing of methylphenidate ranges from 5mg to 60mg daily.
Some side effects with methylphenidate include dizziness, headache, upset stomach, feeling nervous and excitable, loss of appetite, and weight loss.

• You currently take or have taken an MAO inhibitor medication within the past 14 days
• You have marked anxiety, tension, and agitation

• Keep all drugs in a safe place. Keep all drugs out of the reach of children and pets.
• Check with your pharmacist about how to throw out unused drugs.
New research looked at two common types of meds for ADHD -- amphetamine, such as Adderall, and methylphenidate, such as Ritalin -- and found the amphetamine drugs were linked to a slightly greater risk of developing psychosis. Dr. Lauren Moran, a psychiatrist at McLean Hospital, joins CBSN with details.

Narcissism is not a diagnosis. It’s a psychological concept that helps explain or define human behavior. It’s defined as love of the self.
The name comes from the Greek mythological character, Narcissus. Narcissus was a handsome hunter who fell in love with his reflection in a pool of water. When he leaned down to kiss his reflection, he couldn’t see the face, so he continued to stare at the reflection until he died of thirst.
In its most basic form, narcissism as we use the term today, is neither good nor bad. It’s on a spectrum of healthy to pathological. Healthy narcissism is the ability to take pleasure in yourself and your accomplishments. You develop a healthy level of narcissism in childhood when you have parents who allow you the freedom form your own opinions and express your most vulnerable emotions in a supportive environment without criticism and shame.
So in essence, you’re supposed to love yourself. If you have a strong core of self-love and joy, you can sit in a job you hate and take the arrows that are thrown at you. The arrows may damage you superficially like making you unhappy at work, but you can withstand it because you still have your core that allows you to feel satisfaction with life on the inside.
Therefore, when you leave your job at the end of the day, you have the capacity to move on to something else that makes you happy and restores your damaged outer covering.
Pathological narcissism moves down the continuum in the direction of over-inflating your self-worth and doing things that are exclusively for your self-gratification and often to the detriment of others. For some people, this can look like the need to take from people to feel a gain, you tear people down to feel built up, someone else’s win is experienced as a loss for you.
