Probiotics for Despair

featured image

In this video, we introduce Robert D. McMullen, MD who’s a psychiatrist in NYC who has been performing psychopharmacology for over 30 years, the closing 10 of which consist of transcranial magnetic stimulation(TMS). At the unusual time, he’ll discuss probiotics as a treatment for depression.

First off, probiotics are vital and additionally they’re numerous kinds of micro organism that we are attempting and seed into our intestines to augment the preference of upright micro organism and decrease the preference of snide ones. Our GI tract has been very numerous as prolonged as folks have been around. Humans have about 100 trillion micro organism in our gut and there are 300 to 1000 numerous species of micro organism apart from to to numerous kinds in these species. Since folks have coexisted with these micro organism for see you later we have now made consume of them with some of them embedding themselves in the walls of our colon. On the different hand, things have changed over time in human evolution and we not have as powerful biodiversity in our intestines.

One example of this swap in biodiversity is the Amish folks from Pennsylvania and numerous areas which have powerful much less bronchial asthma of their youngsters than the Mennonites. Each of these groups are very the same in nature and reach from very the same locations in Europe. On the different hand, the incompatibility is that the Amish stay not consume any standard tractors or technology and stay every thing by hand manually or with horses. On the loads of hand, Mennonites have permitted the usage of standard technology corresponding to vehicles and tractors. Scientists studied these two groups and stumbled on that there used to be powerful extra differ in the micro organism display in the intestines of the Amish. It is some distance due to this of they’re exposed to extra micro organism as a result of the dirtier atmosphere wherein they dwell than the Mennonites, who dwell in an excellent extra cleaner atmosphere. This publicity to micro organism offers the Amish youngsters powerful gut differ staunch from breathing it in on a strange foundation.

Over the closing few 1000 years, things have changed dramatically in regard to micro organism. Microbiologists who peer micro organism call certain micro organism “primitive chums” and these are micro organism we outmoded to have in obliging proportions in our bodies nonetheless not have this day. Some of them came from stagnant waters, which is what our ancestors consumed most frequently thousands of years ago. The hunter-gatherers had a extremely numerous GI micro organism of their bodies due to their weight reduction program which consisted of plants, and lean wild animals, each of which contained numerous upright micro organism. Subsequently, in show to augment our GI micro organism, we must swap our diets and purchase probiotic medications, which have been shown to assist with depression. In a single peer performed by a Norwegian researcher, probiotics had been outmoded on those that had been at possibility of depression. The peer showed that probiotics had lowered their threat of depression by 50%.

These are staunch some of the findings equipped in the video above. Even though there remains to be extra learn desired to be performed on the outcomes of probiotics on treating depression, the recent learn that has been finished has yielded very effective outcomes to this level.

Probiotics for Depression

In this video, we introduce Robert D. McMullen, MD who is a psychiatrist in NYC who has been performing psychopharmacology for over 30 years, the last 10 of which include transcranial magnetic stimulation(TMS). Today, he will discuss probiotics as a treatment for depression.

First off, probiotics are very important and they are different forms of bacteria that we try to seed into our intestines to improve the number of good bacteria and decrease the number of bad ones. Our GI tract has been very diverse as long as humans have been around. Humans have about 100 trillion bacteria in our gut and there are 300 to 1000 different species of bacteria in addition to different varieties in these species. Since humans have coexisted with these bacteria for so long we have made use of them with some of them embedding themselves in the walls of our colon. However, things have changed over the years in human evolution and we no longer have as much biodiversity in our intestines.

One example of this change in biodiversity is the Amish people from Pennsylvania and other areas that have much less asthma in their children than the Mennonites. Both of these groups are very similar in nature and come from very similar places in Europe. However, the difference is that the Amish do not use any modern tractors or technology and do everything by hand manually or with horses. On the other hand, Mennonites have accepted the use of modern technology such as cars and tractors. Scientists studied these two groups and found that there was a lot more diversity in the bacteria found in the intestines of the Amish. This is because they are exposed to more bacteria due to the dirtier environment in which they live than the Mennonites, who live in a much more cleaner environment. This exposure to bacteria gives the Amish children much gut diversity just from breathing it in on a regular basis.

Over the last few 1000 years, things have changed dramatically in regard to bacteria. Microbiologists who study bacteria call certain bacteria “old friends” and these are bacteria we used to have in large proportions in our bodies but no longer have today. Some of them came from stagnant waters, which is what our ancestors consumed regularly thousands of years ago. The hunter-gatherers had a really diverse GI bacteria in their bodies due to their diet which consisted of plants, and lean wild animals, both of which contained a lot of good bacteria. Therefore, in order to improve our GI bacteria, we must change our diets and take probiotic pills, which have been shown to help with depression. In one study performed by a Norwegian researcher, probiotics were used on people who were prone to depression. The study showed that probiotics had reduced their risk of depression by 50%.

These are just some of the findings presented in the video above. Although there is still more research needed to be performed on the effects of probiotics on treating depression, the current research that has been done has yielded very positive results thus far.

Omega 3 as Depression & Anxiety Treatment

featured image

Omega 3 as Depression & Anxiety Treatment
In this video, we introduce Robert D. McMullen, MD who is a psychiatrist in NYC who has been performing psychopharmacology for over 30 years, the last 10 of which include transcranial magnetic stimulation(TMS). Today, he will discuss some omega 3 as a treatment for depression and bipolar disorder.

Firstly, studies have shown that if you take omega 3 it really helps with depression. The main fat that helps is the EPA and a recommended dosage would be at least 2 grams a day. This was first described in a paper in 1999 by Andrew Stoll who had remarkable results testing fish oil on patients with depression. According to Dr. McMullen’s calculation, to achieve the results he did with his study, Dr. Stoll must have been giving his patients 18 pills a day of fish oil. Furthermore, one of Dr. McMullen’s patients has been receiving 18 pills a day of fish oil pills for depression since 1999. Whenever his dosage is decreased to 10, the patient immediately falls back into the depression and remits as soon as the dosage is increased, which further shows the positive effects of fish oil supplements on treating depression.

Secondly, apart from double-blind studies performed, there are also observational studies performed that support fish oil supplements as a treatment for depression. One such study shows that Japanese people and Eskimos have very low depression rates. This is due to the fact that these people eat very large amounts of fish, meaning they consume large amounts of Omega-3.

Thirdly, there are a number of different types of lipids that are not equal in effect. Likewise, Omega 3 and Omega 6, in particular, have different benefits as well. Humans have 6 to 10 times as much Omega 6 (which we obtain from corn oil) than Omega 3 (which we obtain from fish oil) in the body, which is not good for our bodies. This due to the fact that the walls of our brain cells are made up of 40% of EPA and DHA, which are fats that we obtain from fish. Due to the fact that a lot of our food contains corn oil, our Omega-3 becomes a smaller part of our diet which affects the Omega 3 levels in the brain. Our ancestors consumed a lot more Omega 3 due to the fact their diet consisted mainly of plants and lean wild animals such as deer, both of which contain a lot of EPA and DHA. Therefore, limiting the daily consumption of saturated fats containing corn oil, and taking 2 fish oil pills a day will help us greatly in increasing our Omega-3 levels, which has shown to help with depression.

These are just some of the findings presented in the video above regarding Omega-3 as a treatment for depression. For more information, call TMS Braincare at (212) 362-9635, or fill out a contact form at today!

2020 Holistic & Neutral Depression Therapy Natural Depression Treatments

featured image

Holistic Depression Therapy Natural Depression Treatments
In this video, we introduce Robert D. McMullen, MD who is a psychiatrist in NYC who has been performing psychopharmacology for over 30 years, the last 10 of which include transcranial magnetic stimulation(TMS). Today, he will discuss holistic treatments for depression.

Holistic non-medication interventions for depression have been proven to work, with some being nutritional. One important note is that humans have been experiencing stressful situations for millions of years. Back when humans were hunter-gatherers and had to forage for food in groups and compete with wild predators for their prey, survival was not guaranteed. However, our ancestors faced a lot less stress than we do today due to the relatively simple lifestyle that they lived. Nowadays, jobs, school, family, all these things and more cause humans a lot of stress, with many people eventually developing depression. Therefore, reducing stress in your lifestyle plays a huge role in treating depression and allowing people to live happier lives.

Furthermore, diet is also a factor in depression. The hunter-gatherers’ diet consisted mainly of Omega-3 gained from eating lean meat, which has been shown to help with depression. Nowadays, our diet consist of a lot of Omega 6, found mostly in corn oil which is in a lot of the food that we eat today.

Exercise is also a factor in treating depression. Our ancestors exercised 3 to 4 days a week gathering food and hunting their prey. Our ancestors were a lot healthier than we are today due to the lack of saturated fat and artificial additives that make up a lot of the food that we eat today. Furthermore, our ancestors had very high levels of vitamin D, which has also been shown to help with depression. This is due to the lack of clothes that they wore, which exposed more of their skin to sunlight. Vitamin D deficiency is common in many parts of the world, especially in colder regions where humans are more covered up and exposure to sunlight is minimal during the day.

Behavioral therapy for depression includes forcing yourself to go to social events where you can talk to other people who are happy and can help you take your mind off of your depression. In addition, according to a study performed, using Botox to paralyze the frown muscles can also help reduce depression. Furthermore, avoiding negative thoughts can also help treat depression by lowering stress and focusing on the positives.

These are just some of the findings presented in the video above. For more information on holistic treatments for depression, feel free to schedule a consultation with Dr. McMullen at (212) 362-9635, or contact him through his website at .
