Bipolar disorder symptoms (also referred to as manic depression) can be difficult to spot in kids and teenagers. Dr. Domenick Sportelli is a world renowned psychiatrist and knows the signs of bipolar disorder better than the average psychologist.

Bipolar disorder in children is often misdiagnosed as ADHD, depression, anxiety, and more. (And in adulthood, it is often mistaken for borderline personality disorder or vice versa.) But bipolar disorder can also be over-diagnosed in children. So this mental health education is more important than ever!

Children and teens with Social Anxiety Disorder have an excessive fear of social and/or performance situations. They fear that others might think poorly of them or make embarrassing or humiliating mistakes. They feel constantly "on stage", which can cause a lot of self-consciousness.
