ADHD Medication - Strattera Day 5 | Adult ADHD treatment

featured image

3-months update: />
This is morning of day 5 of my Strattera medication. Everything is normalizing, side-effect are mostly gone… and the motivation part of the medicine is also not working as strongly, even on an increased dosage. It has had some interesting impact on my sense of taste though, which is a welcomed change.

Ritalin | Adult ADHD Treatment

ADHD Medications playlist: />
In this video, I talk about Ritalin as an adult ADHD treatment. I answer some of the most common questions like, what is Ritalin? What is Ritalin and how does it work? What is Ritalin good for? What is Ritalin made of? What are the benefits of taking Ritalin? What are the most common Ritalin side effects?

Whether you decide to take ADHD medication or not, it’s always good to find out as much about your treatment options as possible. Ritalin is only one of many options for treating ADHD.

The path to finding the right medication, in the right dose, with the least amount of side effects can be quite the journey, but it is definitely one worth taking.

Check out the video to get all the details on one of the oldest and most trusted ADHD medications, Ritalin.

Strattera for adult ADHD treatment | 3 Months review

featured image

After quite a while, finally the updated version of my experience with Strattera and it´s result as an adult ADHD treatment.

I hope noone minds the upbeat vibe I chose for the video, as after all, discovering ADHD and having the ability to treat it, can be one of the biggest gifts you ever receive. It is such a relief to start thinking like other people, after being in the dark for decades.

Never use any kind of medication without PROPER reason and PROPER diagnosis, be it for physical problems or psychiatric ones!

How to Treat ADHD without Medication in Adults? How to Treat ADHD in Adults? Adult ADHD Treatment

featured image

How to Treat ADHD without Medication in Adults? How to Treat ADHD in Adults?
Some doctors are hesitant to prescribe ADHD medications to adults, especially older adults, who have a greater risk of drug interactions. If you are having trouble with everyday functioning because of ADHD, then trying drug treatment makes sense. If the impact of ADHD is minor and you’ve figured out coping strategies without a formal diagnosis and treatment plan, your doctor may instead advise treatments that don’t involve medications.

Cognitive behavioral therapy
ADHD may have a particularly serious impact on a certain part of your life, such as job performance. A therapist can help you work on areas that need special attention, giving you strategies that can help in specific situations at work and elsewhere.

One widely used approach is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). This type of psychotherapy helps people change negative thought patterns into positive, healthier ways of thinking. The idea is that if you change the way you think about a situation, your feelings and behaviors can change, too. For example, CBT may help change “all or nothing” thinking, in which in many people with ADHD tend to think that their accomplishments must be either perfect or a failure.

CBT is very focused on giving you tools to help deal with stresses and challenges in life. Working on self-esteem is often a very important aspect of ADHD treatment.

Emotional therapy
ADHD is not just about paying attention in conversations and in meetings. ADHD can lead to frequent emotional ups and downs, which can hamper relationships and everyday activities. Just waiting in line can make a person with ADHD quite irritable. So can minor setbacks, such as having a project not turn out quite right or having a boss who changes deadlines or who demands more work at the last minute. It may help to find a psychiatrist or another type of therapist and meet regularly to discuss your symptoms and any challenges or successes in your life.

It’s also common for adults with ADHD to have other mental health conditions. An estimated 50% of adults with ADHD, for example, also have an anxiety disorder, according to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America. Having ADHD along with another condition can severely interfere with daily functioning.

Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback is a form of treatment that teaches you how to regulate your brain waves in an effort to enhance brain function and mental well-being. Brain activity is monitored through a machine called an electroencephalograph. Brain signals pass from one or more leads placed on your head to a computer, which translates the brain signals into a video or audio display.

People with ADHD often have excessive slow-wave activity in frontal leads, indicating reduced frontal brain activity. Through neurofeedback, you can learn to do tasks that may enhance the function of the prefrontal cortex by suppressing slow-wave activity and increasing higher (that is, faster) frequencies.

The technique is noninvasive and painless. Studies of neurofeedback’s effectiveness have shown mixed results, however. Treatment typically requires 40 to 80 sessions, which can be time-consuming and expensive.

How To Push Through Tough Tasks - ADHD Skills Part 2

featured image

With ADHD, procrastination is huge. Nobody wants to do unpleasant tasks. ADHD can make it difficult to avoid certain tasks because they seem too large. You might think the task is too complicated or too time-consuming.

This video will show you how to finish tasks that you might normally put off. This is done by pairing enjoyable activities with unpleasant. You have now created the task list, identified the parts that are difficult and estimated how long it should take. This video will show you how to do it. The pleasant activity can be used immediately as a reward or simultaneously with the unpleasant. To make the unpleasant activity more bearable, you can create a comfortable environment. It’s like taking bad medicine and eating something sweet. You can also adjust the time you spend doing the unpleasant stuff to make it just before you do the good stuff.

To be able to complete tasks on time, the second tip is to prioritize them according to importance. This will help you to avoid wasting time on unnecessary things and make it easier to focus on the important stuff. More firerills will result. You become inefficient and forgetful when you are constantly playing catch up.

Hidden anxiety is not actually a clinical term. Hidden anxiety refers more to symptoms of anxiety that are underlooked in the DSM. The purpose of this video is to raise awareness on less common signs of anxiety that people may not notice. Someone with or without an official diagnosis of anxiety disorder may still experience these symptoms. Do you have a friend or know someone who may be experiencing signs of anxiety that are hard to pick up?

Disclaimer: Do not use this video to self diagnose yourself or someone else. To receive a proper diagnosis, a professional is recommended. You can, however, use this video as a guide when explaining your symptoms to your doctors.

According to the American Psychological Association, people with anxiety have a future-oriented fear which leads them to avoid anything that could potentially trigger a stress response. In 2017, the National Institute of Mental Health reported that approximately 40 million people worldwide suffer from anxiety.

Anxiety disorders are highly treatable, but recent surveys show that only 36.9% of those suffering from it seek treatment. This might be because most people with anxiety worry about the judgment of others and how the stigma against mental illness might negatively affect their lives.

Getting Diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 55😬🤦‍♀️

featured image

Hello friends! I am sharing how I got diagnosed with ADHD as an adult at age 55. I know many people are curious about adult ADHD and how one goes about getting a diagnosis, therefore I thought I would explain my ADHD symptoms and what led me to get tested.

Being diagnosed with ADHD at this age was very eye opening for me. I knew things (my symptoms) were getting worse and I wanted to see if it was actually ADHD or not. Realizing you have had ADHD your whole life and not realizing it until much much later in life can cause many mixed emotions. I felt that I was validated, yet I was upset that I wasn’t tested when I was much younger. I think it would have changed many things in my life. That is why I want to make these videos to help others with understanding ADHD and provide strategies and tips to hopefully make life a little easier.

Thanks for watching and please subscribe to the channel!

MY MISSION
To raise awareness about non-hyperactive ADHD (what I call “Hidden ADHD”) to help others who are struggling with it. I want them to know what they can do about it. I want them to know that they’re not lazy, unmotivated, and willfully irresponsible. I want them to know they can realize their potential and create the life of their dreams.
