Prescriptions have increased more than 60 percent in the last two decades and overdose deaths involving them have more than quadrupled between 2002 and 2015, promptings some states to limit the number of pills a patient can be prescribed. » Subscribe to NBC News: C » Watch more NBC video: s

How about tonight, do you feel me?
And I said alright, can you hear me?
Am I just another face in the crowd
Something you can wrap your head around
The lights go out
Just hear the sound of the bass drum beating
Your heart to the ceiling
Alright let's go all night
Till my feet stop moving
Let me show you how we do it
You say you're not in love
In love with me
Let's see how you feel
Once you finish your drink
I won't remember this night
It's getting blurry so one, two, three
You're comin' home with me
We're gonna flee the scene
And I'ma make your heart beat
I can't seem to think straight
So I'm doing this my way
I'm gonna make you think that you're dreamin'
I wont let you stop this
Come at me and take me
When you think you're leaving
The lights go out
Just hear the sound of the bass drum beating
Your heart to the ceiling
Alright let's go all night
Till my feet stop moving
Let me show you how we do it
You say you're not in love
In love with me
Let's see how you feel
Once you finish your drink
I won't remember this night
It's getting blurry so one, two, three
You're comin' home with me
We're gonna flee the scene
And I'ma make your heart beat
What happened tonight
I don't know whats going on
I'm so high I cant tell
What's right from wrong
I won't remember this night
It's getting blurry so one, two, three
You're comin' home with me
We're gonna flee the scene
And I'ma make your heart beat

Here is my vyvanse Week 3 update talking about how it has affected my sleep.
Two of Robert Whitaker’s books on this subject are among the most cited in the literature: Mad in America (2002) and Anatomy of an Epidemic (2010). He has received numerous awards (listed below), including a George Polk Award for medical writing and a National Association of Science Writers Award for best magazine article. He was a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize in 1998.
Whitaker’s work has alerted both the medical community and the general public to the serious dangers of psychotropic medicines when used for extended periods. He has become a standard reference for the facts.
Robert Whitaker is a prominent medical writer, whose concentration is on psychiatric care and psychotropic drugs. In this presentation he provides important information about how ADHD —now an “epidemic”— is diagnosed and why users of medications for ADHD should be cautious. Recent news stories about the hazards of long-term ADHD medications and the more general use of these drugs to enhance concentration underscore the importance of Whitaker’s discussion.
In this video, we examined the difference between Ritalin and Vyvanse. The caption also includes the source of Vyvanse’s greater effect on children and teens at the end.
Concerta is a drug often prescribed to treat ADHD. Concerta, like many prescription drugs, is easy to get addicted to if it’s misused. Abusing Concerta for long periods can lead to serious side effects, including headaches, sinus congestion and nosebleeds, severe fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraines, chronic pain, jaw soreness, gum swelling, and other problems.

My guest is Rhonda Patrick, Ph.D. She earned her doctoral degree in biomedical science from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and has become one of the leading public health educators on the brain and general health, aging, cancer, and nutrition. We discuss the four major categories of micronutrients that regulate cellular and organ stress and antioxidants, inflammation, hormone regulation, immune system, and longevity. Dr. Patrick provides actionable protocols for obtaining key micronutrients from food and/or supplement-based sources. Additionally, Dr. Patrick outlines protocols for deliberate cold and deliberate heat exposure to benefit metabolism, cardiorespiratory fitness, mental health, and lifespan.

This video presents 17 reasons why I believe ADHD is not a legitimate medical disorder. The reasons include:
1. ADHD symptoms reflect the fragmentation of our culture
2. Kids diagnosed with ADHD have normal but delayed brain development (2-3 years behind neurotypical kids)
3. Accountability and standardization in school is making it harder for different learners to succeed - the result: ADHD symptoms
4. Many ADHD symptoms are simply ''all boy'' behavior
5. ADHD symptoms are a result of the brain being involved in too much consumption of mass media
6. Part of the ADHD epidemic is due to the decline of free unstructured play in our culture
7. Kids diagnosed with ADHD are hunters in a farmers world
8. Kids diagnosed with ADHD are novelty-seekers - that's creative behavior
9. Some kids diagnosed with ADHD are reflecting adverse living conditions in the home and community
10. A neurodiversity paradigm is better suited to describe these kids than a disability paradigm
11. One of the so-called symptoms of ADHD - fidgeting - actually helps these kids concentrate better
12. Many of these kids focus for long periods of time on things that interest them - that's a good thing, not a symptom
13. The authorities who diagnose ADHD come from backgrounds where they had to be compliant to professors, supervisors, etc. so they see compliance as an absolute good, but non-compliance has its good sides too (e.g. our Founding Fathers in the U.S.)
14. Some kids diagnosed with ADHD have a difficult temperament, which is still within normal limits.
15. ADHD conditions can exist in the relationship between the child and the caregiver, but not inside the child
16. There's been a creeping medicalization of our society aided by Big Pharma to create and sustain a market for ADHD drugs and services (doctors sometimes spend as little as 15 minutes diagnosing ADHD in a child)..
17. There are other conditions that mimic the symptoms of ADHD including: mood disorders, anxiety, PTSD, hearing problems etc.

Dr. Travis Mickle, PhD, President and CEO of KemPharm, Inc., discusses the FDA approval of their new ADHD drug AZSTARYS™ (serdexmethylphenidate and dexmethylphenidate capsule) for ages 6 to adult, a once-a-day pill with rapid onset of 30 mins and lasts 13 hrs without the side effects associated with the current standard of care.
Dr. Mickle co-founded KemPharm Inc. in 2006 with the discovery of the company’s LAT® (Ligand Activated Therapy) prodrug technology. As President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board he oversees KemPharm’s business and scientific strategy and is instrumental in the ongoing development of the company’s pipeline of proprietary prodrugs. Prior to founding KemPharm, Dr. Mickle served as Director of Drug Discovery and CMC at New River Pharmaceuticals where he was the principal inventor of Vyvanse®, a prodrug of amphetamine for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Today, Vyvanse is the branded market share leader in the estimated $17 billion plus ADHD market. The success of Vyvanse along with a robust pipeline of prodrugs targeting ADHD, pain and thyroid dysfunctions, which Dr. Mickle was responsible for creating, led to New River Pharmaceuticals being acquired by Shire Pharmaceuticals, PLC for $2.6 billion. During his career, Dr. Mickle has been granted more than 80 US and EP (Europe) patents and has authored more than 100 patent applications US and worldwide, primarily focused on abuse-deterrent prodrugs in pain management and mental health, including multiple patents for prodrugs of hydrocodone, methylphenidate, and amphetamine. He is also the principal or secondary investigator on numerous published abstracts and scientific articles. Dr. Mickle received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Iowa and his B.A. degree from Simpson College.
