ADHD and ADD are usual terms that get thrown around plenty on the contemporary time, nonetheless they’re widely misunderstood. As Dr. Brown explains, it “has to end with the unfolding of the administration design of the brain.”
What is ADHD? Thomas E. Brown, PhD, discusses ADHD symptoms, usual causes of ADHD (additionally customarily known as ADD), and debunks a couple of ADHD myths.

For a long time the model of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder has been that it’s a neurodevelopmental disorder that starts in childhood. The expected course of ADHD has been that that about 50% of people with childhood ADHD, continue to have symptoms into adulthood. But a study from earlier this year found that only 10% of children completely grow out of ADHD. In this video I talk about the expected course of ADHD from childhood into adulthood.

In this episode, Eric is joined by Allison Lieberman, a licensed marriage and family therapist, is certified in postpartum mental health, and is a new-mom coach! She is the host of The New Mama Mentor Pod and helps new moms find peace and balance in their chaotic lives.
You’ll hear Allison share when she was diagnosed with ADHD, how her diagnosis impacted her practice and her life as a mom, how she struggled with postpartum anxiety after having her first child, the dangers of glorifying worrying as a parent, the personal narratives that arise as a parent, and Allison’s mission to bring light to postpartum anxiety.
Then, Eric and Allison dive into the work she does to educate new moms, the things that Allison has been learning with postpartum in the realm of ADHD, her experience with overstimulation and sensory processing, and the effects of stress, and differentiating between trauma and ADHD.
Finally, you’ll hear why Allison started her podcast, medical gaslighting, and how journaling can help through the process.

You can rewire your brain to be less anxious through a simple, but not easy, process. Understanding the anxiety cycle and how avoidance causes anxiety to spiral out of control unlocks the key to learning how to tone down anxiety and rewire those neural pathways to feel safe and secure.
In this video, I teach three essential things you need to understand about anxiety, three steps to face and overcome anxiety, and how the brain can actually change (rewire) its structure, function, and chemistry when you change how you think and act.

About Me:
I’m Emma McAdam. I’m a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and I have worked in various settings of change and growth since 2004. My experience includes juvenile corrections, adventure therapy programs, wilderness therapy programs, an eating disorder treatment center, a residential treatment center, and I currently work in an outpatient therapy clinic.
In therapy I use a combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Systems Theory, positive psychology, and a bio-psycho-social approach to treating mental illness and other challenges we all face in life. The ideas from my videos are frequently adapted from multiple sources. Many of them come from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, especially the work of Steven Hayes, Jason Luoma, and Russ Harris. The sections on stress and the mind-body connection derive from the work of Stephen Porges (the Polyvagal theory), Peter Levine (Somatic Experiencing) Francine Shapiro (EMDR), and Bessel Van Der Kolk. I also rely heavily on the work of the Arbinger institute for my overall understanding of our ability to choose our life's direction.
And deeper than all of that, the Gospel of Jesus Christ orients my personal worldview and sense of security, peace, hope, and love e

Picking up on the drama of the previous episode, we continue the series on how ADHD affects our social skills. As many of you know, social skills are more challenging for us than others who don't have #ADHD. And even within the ADHD population, there are some who are more impacted by this symptom than others.
WHY THIS TOPIC?
I chose "Over/Under reacting" as the number-three of the most worrisome Social Skills because it is a theme that has popped up in my life enough that caused me to think there was something wrong with my personality. I've lost friends over this particular quirk and it's led me down paths where I prioritized things that didn't need immediate attention and catastrophized events that didn't warrant the drama I gave to it.
