According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), although stimulant medications are an effective first-line treatment for ADHD, concern persists regarding the possible side effects and long-term health outcomes associated with stimulant consumption.
As parents and educators search for options and alternatives, groundbreaking research is showing the effectiveness of the Transcendental Meditation technique, a non-drug approach to ADHD. Insights in Health explores the research and experiences using the Transcendental Meditation technique for ADHD.
There are natural medicines for depression that can be used as add on treatment. Some of these options for depression can be used alone to help mild to moderate symptoms. In this video I discuss some of the options for helping your depression without prescription medication or in addition to your prescription medication.

Marijuana is the common term for cannabis that is derived from the plant Cannabis sativa. This plan has hundreds of chemicals in it called cannabinoids. The two main cannabinoids in the cannabis plant that we’ve studies are Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol or THC and cannabidiol or CBD. THC has mind altering properties and CBD does not.
The reason cannabis has an effect in the body is that cannabinoids are neurotransmitters or chemicals that affect the activities of nerves. We make our own cannabinoids called the endocannabinoid system. The two endocannabinoids are anandamide and 2-arachidonoyl glycerol.

Dr. Kevin talks about the pros and cons of putting your child on concerta. The long lasting effects of concerta may have caught your attention, however a longer attention span does not mean that your child will comprehend information any better. In some cases medication has even brought down comprehension levels in children. Alternatives are a way to improve your child’s attention without the side effects of medication and with the right structure, can be beneficial beyond the pharmaceutical limitations of Concerta.

When seeking treatment for ADHD symptoms, many people are vastly under-informed on their options. If you’ve only been prescribed Vyvanse, Adderall, or one of the other big-brand pharmaceuticals, you may not even know the many other options out there, including natural supplements and homeopathic solutions. Learn more about Vyvanse, its differences from Adderall, and what natural remedies may be good alternatives for you
Today’s scientists believe that the main reason adult ADHD remains underdiagnosed is that the diagnostic criteria for ADHD created in the DSM-V (the current manual for diagnosing mental illnesses, published in 2013) were developed around the signs and symptoms of children, specifically boys. There is also an implicit racial bias to how patients of color are diagnosed and treated for mental illnesses, ADHD included. This can affect the ability of young girls, children of color, and people experiencing adult-onset symptoms of ADHD to get proper diagnosis and treatment.
As it turns out, however, ADHD is a disorder that affects a diverse population of all ages and gender identities. And, for adults living with the symptoms of ADHD, Adderall can’t always be used to manage their condition — whether it interacts poorly with their other medications or just doesn’t seem to work for them. In this case, there are several alternatives typically prescribed instead, such as the drug Vyvanse.
So what Is Vyvanse?
Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) – Vyvanse is a stimulant in a family of amphetamine-based drugs used to treat certain symptoms of ADHD. Using a balance of naturally occurring chemicals in the brain called neurotransmitters, Vyvanse can target many aspects of the disorder that keep patients from being able to pay attention. The effect of this drug can help people with attention disorders have a much more organized and productive life. Some other Vyvanse uses are for the treatment of illnesses like Binge Eating Disorder, but due to the risk of certain more serious effects, it should never be used as a weight-loss drug.
Lisdexamfetamine and ADHD When used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan, Lisdexamfetamine (the active ingredient in Vyvanse) can be a great help to patients with ADHD. The drug addresses the inability to stay focused, sit still without fidgeting, and pay attention to any tasks at hand. By providing the ability for the neurotransmitters in the brain to flow uninterrupted, Vyvanse can help people feel more in control of their thoughts and actions, and ultimately, their lives.

Here's how you can ask a MedCircle Doctor your questions directly: /
In this interview video, double board certified child & adolescent psychiatrist Dr Domenick Sportelli and MedCircle host Kyle Kittleson walk through the 5 signs someone grew up with bipolar disorder.
00: 00 Intro
00: 22 1. Duration of symptoms
01: 04 2. Signs show in adolescence (usually)
01: 17 3. Depression/mania look "different"
02: 41 4. MAY have been misdiagnosed
03: 23 5. Behavioral issues "out of normal range"
Bipolar disorder symptoms (also referred to as manic depression) can be difficult to spot in kids and teenagers. Dr. Domenick Sportelli is a world renowned psychiatrist and knows the signs of bipolar disorder better than the average psychologist.
Bipolar disorder in children is often misdiagnosed as ADHD, depression, anxiety, and more. (And in adulthood, it is often mistaken for borderline personality disorder or vice versa.) But bipolar disorder can also be over-diagnosed in children. So this mental health education is more important than ever!
After watching this video, you'll better understand bipolar disorder symptoms like manic episodes, hypomania, bipolar depression, mood swings, and more.
There are natural medicines for depression that can be used as add on treatment. These natural remedies can be used to treat mild or moderate depression. This video will discuss the various options available to treat your depression, whether you are on your own or with prescription medication.

Timothee as "Teenage Stephen" in The Adderall Diaries (2015)

I don’t like being told what do. I have never done that. Many people tried to make me feel ashamed. My untamable heart makes me proud and happy to be me.
Let me show you … examples. In an age where women make money from women hating their bodies, I made the bold decision to love and accept my body as it is.
Instead of relying on men in power to grant their “big break,” I will fund my own dreams in newer and more creative ways with no permission from anyone.
In a music industry where men make money from women being stereotypical, I decided to refuse to be limited and do whatever I like. They will be uncomfortable, no matter what. They want me not to voice my opinions, to change my hair color, to wear the appropriate outfit, and to sing the songs they have chosen. Instead, I will be louder, more bold, wear whatever I like, play the music I created and produced, and not care about what others think.
As a woman, I feel that we are constantly told to fit into boxes to make others more comfortable with us. This is not what I was designed to do. You weren’t either.
What if we were not put here on this planet to shrink and grow? Instead, to grow and be the best version of ourselves. What if we were given the opportunity to be the most fearless version of ourselves? My Instagram bio asks me the first question: What would your life look like if you were not afraid? That’s what I would like to hear from you. What would you do if you didn’t fear anything? What would people think? Of failure? What is holding you back? Let me know …
All of my music is about me trying to conquer the question “What would you do if fear wasn’t a factor?” Because it scares my, I change up the genres that I listen to. Outfits that make me frightened are what I wear. I create media pieces, shows, and art that scare me. We become great by facing our fears and refusing to be contained in boxes.
Adderall is a song I wrote about being abused by and manipulated by someone trying to convince me that I was a part of a group. You can listen to it here. They wanted me to shrink because that was what made them more comfortable. Instead of encouraging me overcome my fears and to make my best self, they told me to shrink to make me more appealing to the rest of the world. That’s exactly what happens to many of us. It’s not something I accept. You shouldn’t either.
What do you think? Are you able to identify with the need to conform? What would you do if fear wasn’t a factor? Are you already doing it? What steps can you take to make your life more adventurous, bolder and wilder? Leave a comment or a message below.
We love you so much. -EMM
