Chronic depression is also known as persistent depressive disorder or PDD, and is defined by a continuous depressed mood that occurs for at least two years. In today’s video, we will address the signs and symptoms of chronic depression.

featured image

Join the QueenBeeing Universibee – the online learning and evolution center for narcissistic abuse survivors. You’ll really thrive when you join this hive! Join up at today!
Are you just sad, or could you be clinically depressed? I’ve been there – if you stick around through the end of the video, I’ll tell you my story.

Do you go on living with sadness, working every day and dealing with the dull, lingering pain of a narcissist’s abuse? Do you find yourself feeling miserable, devastated, unable to function or even suicidal?

What you need to know: If your depression lasts longer than a few days, you might be dealing with what doctors call clinical depression – and if that’s the case, you need to take action.

If you just deal and stay depressedd, the condition is just going to stick around until your life becomes a living hell.
How Is Clinical Depression Different from Sadness?

The answer is complex. And, your life may depend on it.

More importantly, clinical depression isn’t something that can be worked through without help – but it can be treated with a number of options that you can discuss with your doctor.

Some forms of depression can go undetected and cause problems in your lifestyle. Major depression is usually accompanied by a complete inability to find any pleasure in life.

Next week, I’ll do a series on how to overcome depression during your narcissistic abuse recovery – stay tuned!

Part two of the series ADHD Social Awkwardness and Social Skills. Pardon me while I expose my own awkward, insulting, feelings-hurting mishaps caused by my ADHD MOUTH.
If you'd like to assess your own social skills, here is a checklist (also available on the CHADD webpage.) (CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder))

ASSESSMENT OF SOCIAL SKILLS

Interviews and self-report questionnaires are the primary tools for assessing social skill deficits and interpersonal interaction problems in adults with ADHD. During the course of a diagnostic evaluation for ADHD (see What We Know #9, “Diagnosis of ADHD in Adults”), a mental health professional will thoroughly assess the social interactions of the adult. When questionnaires are used, it is important to include both a self-report by the individual with ADHD and reports by spouses, significant others, and friends on a comparable version of the questionnaire.

The questionnaire may include the following types of items:

-Difficulty paying attention when spoken to, missing pieces of information
-Appears to ignore others
-Difficulty taking turns in conversation (tendency to interrupt frequently)
-Difficulty following through on tasks and/or responsibilities
-Failure to use proper manners
-Missed social cues
-Disorganized lifestyle
-Sharing information that is inappropriate
-Being distracted by sounds or noises
-Become flooded or overwhelmed, shutting down
-Disorganized or scattered thoughts
-Rambling or straying off topic during conversations
-Ending a conversation abruptly
