Burnout Vs. Depression - How To Tell the Difference

featured image

Burnout versus depression- how do you tell the difference? Burnout is usually thought of as something that happens professionally or caused by work stress. But the way it makes you feel can feel similar to depression. A common definition is that it has three components: exhaustion, cynicism, and inefficacy.

In this video I discuss how to tell the difference between depression and burnout, how burnout develops and some ways to avoid it or deal with it once you have it.

Classic Bipolar vs Atypical Bipolar - How To Tell The Difference

featured image

Bipolar disorder can present in two very distinct ways. There are two types of bipolar disorder: a textbook or classic presentation and a non-classic, or atypical one. These are not the official subtypes for bipolar disorder you will find in your diagnostic manual. This is a description of how bipolar disorder might present.

This is because bipolar disorder in its classic form responds better to lithium, while the atypical forms respond better to anticonvulsant mood stabilisers like Depakote or Lamotrigine, and atypical antipsychotic medications such as Seroquel and Abilify.

In this video, I define and use a lot of terms. Knowing the terms of clinical terminology is important so that you can understand what someone else is saying. Sometimes, your doctor may use these terms in conversation without you realizing it. This is because it takes extra effort to translate non-clinical terminology in your head.

These are the terms that I used in this video: Atypical bipolar disorder, Classic bipolar Disorder, Atypical Bipolar Disorder, Atypical/second-generation antipsychotics, Subsyndromal, Morbidity, Psychological construct, Hyperthymic Temperament, Heritable, First Degree and Neuroprotective

Two of Robert Whitaker's books on this subject are among the most cited in the literature: Mad in America (2002) and Anatomy of an Epidemic (2010). There are many awards he has won, including the George Polk Award for medical writing as well as the National Association of Science Writers Award (for best magazine article). He was a finalist in the 1998. Pulitzer Prize.

Whitaker's research has raised awareness among both the medical community as well as the general public about the dangers of long-term psychotropic medication use. Whitaker is a well-known source of facts.

Robert Whitaker, a well-known medical writer, is focused on psychotropic drugs and psychiatric care. He provides valuable information on ADHD, including how it is now an epidemic and why ADHD medication users should be careful. Whitaker's presentation is crucial due to recent news stories about ADHD medication side effects and general use of ADHD drugs to improve concentration.

Lyrics

Wake up with a knot in my chest
Tried everything just to get out of bed
It ain't working, it ain't working
Sometimes, I can get like this
I cover it up with a smile on my face
But I'm hurting, I'm still hurting

There are days when the world gets heavy
Sleepless nights, I've had way too many
When it's late and no one's around, around
Alone in my room and the tears start pouring
Wishing the night was still the morning
But tonight, I'ma let them fall down, fall down

'Cause it's okay not to be okay
It's okay if you feel the pain
Don't gotta wipe your tears away
Tomorrow's another day
It's okay not to be okay
It's fine, you're allowed to break
As long as you know, as long as you know
Everything's gonna be okay
Okay, okay
As long as you know, as long as you know
Everything's gonna be okay
Okay

Look at you, look at me
We all going through it if you look beyond the surface
Beyond the surface
So what do I do?
Just wear it on my sleeve
Maybe then, maybe then you'd believe that I'm hurting (That I'm hurting)
That I'm hurting, mmm (That I'm hurting)

There are days when the world gets heavy
Sleepless nights, I've had way too many
And it feels like there's no way out, way out (There's no way out, no)

featured image

Burnout versus depression- how do you tell the difference? Burnout is often viewed as a result of work stress or professional burnout. It can also feel like depression. It can be described as three things: exhaustion (cynicism), inefficacy, and cynicism.

This video explains how to distinguish between depression and burnout. It also explains how to deal with burnout once it occurs.

Anxiety vs Mania - How To Tell The Difference

featured image

Anxiety disorders can occur along with bipolar disorder and there is some overlap in the way anxiety and mania look that it’s not always clear which it is. This is important. This is because early warning signs of depression and mania can help you to intervene before the episode escalates. You can adjust your mood stabilizer if you feel there is a manic episode coming. If it is anxiety, you won’t want that.

These symptoms are similar to anxiety and mania.
Racing thoughts
Concentration problems
Mood irritability
Inability to fall asleep
Restlessness and agitation

Anxiety can be described as a feeling of fear, anxiety, or uneasiness. Although it can manifest in physical manifestations, anxiety starts with a feeling. Mania refers to hyperarousal. It is like an internal motor with the dial turned up.

In some ways, anxiety can be compared to mania. Although they have some similarities, anxiety and mania are different. Mania affects your body and makes you feel ill.

Social anxiety disorder is a condition in which children and teens have a persistent fear of social and/or performing situations, such as school, parties and athletic events. They fear that others might judge them or make embarrassing mistakes. They feel constantly "on stage," which can cause a lot of self-consciousness and distress. While some children fear performing in public, others are afraid to speak or perform in public. Others avoid social situations and may be more afraid.
