How to help someone with depression? Often, just being there can make a huge difference. Whether the person is dealing with a reoccurring mood disorder or is depressed for no apparent reason, being present and understanding can go a long way. In addition to physical support, a patient, understanding presence is also helpful. It is important to remember that depression is not your fault or a sign of weakness, so there is no need to rush or be judgmental.

What Are The Signs Of Depression

If you have been feeling down for several weeks, you may be experiencing some of the signs of depression. Fortunately, feeling down is natural. But when it becomes a condition called depression, it can interfere with your daily functioning, preventing you from doing what you want to do and enjoying your life. If you’re feeling depressed, you should talk to your doctor, who can help you determine if you have depression and provide you with the appropriate resources.

How to talk to someone about depression

If you’re concerned about a loved one suffering from depression, the first thing you must do is listen. People who suffer from depression are likely to feel unsure or even depressed. You must not assume that they have no hope, because they may be seeing a therapist. Also, it’s best to avoid saying things that make the person feel even worse, such as “you’ve got to get yourself to the doctor.”
