We with anxiety issues and especially health anxiety have to deal with plenty of different types of physical and mental symptoms. One of the worst and most debilitating symptoms has to be difficulties breathing and hyperventilation.
For some these breathing problems arise only during panic attacks and for others, like myself, it was something that stuck around all day every day. It all began with one of my first severe anxiety attacks. Ive noticed that my breathing was shallow and fast, I started to panic and listened in. More and more abnormalities and sensations started to spread all over my body. My chest tightened up, I felt numbness and tingling in my hands and had this dizzy and wonky feeling. My fear escalated and with that so did the physical symptoms. Like every panic attack does it subsided at some point but I was still stuck worrying. Wondering what has just happened to me and what this all could have been a sign of. Was it a heart attack? Was it lung cancer? Maybe asthma or COPD? These thoughts never let me go and of course kept on flooding my body with stress hormones. Suddenly I was in and out of severe panic attacks over and over again on a daily basis. Whenever I wasn’t in panic I would still obsess over each and every breath. Making sure that everything was normal and made sense. This kind of obsessive worrying obviously created and fueled the symptoms I feared. It’s the typical vicious cycle of anxiety.
Normal tasks seemed to cause breathlessness and my mind couldn’t stop consciously controlling my breathing. It kept me up at night and was a reason for my insomnia.
Unfortunately there isn’t really and quick fix for this or most of the other anxiety symptoms but there are certain tips and tricks that certainly helped me.

This video is all about sharing my experience and explaining the processes happening in our mind / body and perhaps some of you can relate and feel more at ease.
