Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (also known as ADHD) was once commonly thought to only be found in hyper and overactive school-aged boys. Further research has proven this to be false. ADHD actually occurs equally in both genders and, furthermore, continues into adulthood. After more and more studies have been conducted, we have found that girls and women are often simply either undiagnosed or misdiagnosed.

ADHD has three main symptoms under which all other symptoms fall, including inattentive and hyperactive or impulsive. Girls and women most often have the inattentive form, while boys and men most often have the hyperactive and impulsive form. Because the inattentive form can mimic so many other disorders, such as anxiety, depression, or other mood disorders, girls and women who have the inattentive form of ADHD are often either misdiagnosed or undiagnosed. Another reason for this is that most of these symptoms can be easily explained away as being character flaws or even poor personality traits.

Medical professionals have finally come to the realization that females do, in all actuality, suffer from ADHD just as much, if not more so, than males do. The same is true in that adults suffer just as much as youngsters do. Hopefully, as more research is continually being conducted, women will finally be able to get the diagnosis and treatment we so desperately are needing.

This book is a two-part series combining two different books, both on ADHD in adults, and more specifically, on helping women get a handle on and manage their symptoms. They both work well as stand-alone books, and they both work wonderfully together as well. They are also sold in multiple different formats, including paperback, hardback, e-book, and audiobook. This is because everyone is unique and we each have different versions that we prefer.

This video teaches children how fright is a same old biological response – known as “War, Flight, Freeze” – that can safe brought about inappropriately in the well-liked world.

Dismay Canada created this video with toughen from BC Partners for Psychological Effectively being and Addictions Files.

Dismay triggers something known as the “fight-flight-freeze” response (F3). This automatic response impacts our thoughts, body, and behaviors. When confronted with a doable threat, your thoughts deal with the hazard, your body revs up to again protect you, and you grasp motion (fight, flight, or freeze). For instance, imagine that you’re out strolling your dogs and a skunk pops out of the bushes. You've got thoughts about the skunk comparable to “What if it sprays us?” which helps you identify the skill hazard. Your body also reacts (heart beats faster, muscle nerve-racking up) to again you to safe prepared to present protection to yourself. And, you grasp motion, comparable to final very peaceable and hoping the skunk doesn’t ogle you (freeze) or running away (flight). Because it is probably you'll probably well probably probably to find, fright protects you. If truth be told, without it, we’d be extinct!

The F3 machine is severe to our survival from fair appropriate threat or hazard, but what occurs when there is no real hazard? Interestingly, fright might probably well also trigger this blueprint into motion when we imagine there might be a threat or hazard despite the reality that there isn’t. For instance, you are going to moreover recount at your mum for bugging you about taking your using take a look at ought to you don’t in point of fact feel ready (fight). Or you are going to moreover call your dad to make a decision you up early from a brand original task since you don’t in point of fact feel happy spherical irregular other folks (flight). Or, you are going to moreover in point of fact feel as despite the reality that your thoughts goes blank when the trainer asks you a search data from (freeze). These are examples of fright triggering the F3 alarm even despite the reality that these situations are no longer in point of fact dreadful. We call this a “mistaken alarm.”
