➡️About this episode: Why people don’t like you. 3-steps to Build ADHD social skills
“Why doesn’t anyone want to play with me?” I used to wonder that often when I was a little girl. Was it because the other kids teased me daily about my lazy eye, thick prism glasses and extreme shyness? Erm, yeah. Did all that teasing torture and cripple me with poor self-esteem and anxiety about talking to people? Yes ma’am and yes Sir.
Did that compound any social development I was likely already experiencing because of undiagnosed ADHD? Well, Honey, hush!
Those ingredients combined to create a toxic stew of defensiveness, overcompensating, masking and a double dose of naïveté that made it difficult for others to get to know the real me (whoever that was). For those who figured me out before i was capable of doing so, it made it very hard for them to continue a friendship or relationship with me.
In this video I offer three actionable steps to help you get through the pain of social awkwardness. These tips only work if you practice, practice, PRACTICE! So get out of your head and into a conversation with a human. And God bless you.
