I now earn almost as much annually as the Prime Minister, all thanks to a few smart bets every day.

I hope you all recognize who I am referring to!
There was money to be made and Mike had a very clever system for exploiting that fact.
Being close he used to tell me what to look for when picking winners and for me it was just enjoyment watching him get excited about the races as they got underway and he had the most almighty scream when he won I remember that.
I think the whole store remembers that!
Being the ‘straight and narrow’ type I never dabbled myself but understood what he did and he was good at it.
After a couple years Mike left Salford and moved back to Ireland and we lost touch. I moved to Tills in that year. After being made redundant, my career ended at an accountancy firm in Didsbury.
That was a bit of a low point for me and I guess you could say looking back I slumped into a mild-form of depression; having virtually no savings I applied for so many jobs whilst claiming benefits and if I’m honest I became quite a negative person.
Having lived a decent hard-working life and brought up a family I was being put out to graze and things were about to become a real struggle.
Then I remember clearly an advert on TV for the Cheltenham Festival it must have been 2014 and my thoughts went straight to Mike and his system.
