The percentage of adults who experienced any symptoms of depression was highest among those aged 18-29 (21.0%), followed by those aged 45-64 (18.4%) and 65 and over (18.4%), and lastly, by those aged 30-44 (16.8%). Depression can affect as many as 3% of American children, and as high a percentage of adolescents. The condition is significantly more common in boys under age 10. But by age 16, girls have a greater incidence of depression.

Children’s sadness is not necessarily a sign that they are experiencing depression. A child may be suffering from depression if their sadness persists or interferes with school, family, and social activities. Although it is possible to treat depression, it can also be serious.

If you feel depressed or sad all the time, it could be depression. Depression can cause a loss of enthusiasm for daily activities, such as school and work. If someone is contemplating suicide or self harm, they may be depressed. If you experience any of these symptoms, it is a good idea to seek medical attention.

Depression is a serious medical condition. Half of people suffering from depression don’t seek treatment. It is crucial to get immediate help. The doctor will look for symptoms and may order lab tests. Your doctor will discuss possible treatments.

What Are the Symptoms of Depression?

Depression can make a person feel down all day. They may find it difficult to do the things they once enjoyed. Depression can manifest in many ways. Knowing if you are suffering from any of these symptoms is crucial. Some symptoms of depression can be more physical than others.

If you are experiencing persistent depression symptoms, it is a good idea to visit your GP. NHS doctors make decisions about diagnosis based on manuals, such as the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10). These manuals include the symptoms of depression. The list does not contain all the symptoms of depression, but it may help you to identify the symptoms. One of the signs of depression that are listed in the ICD-10 are thoughts of self-harm or suicide.

How to help someone suffering from depression

There are many ways to help someone you love who is suffering from depression. You must first be familiar with the condition. Understanding the condition will help you understand the available treatment options and what to look out for in someone with depression. You should be able to assist your loved one with medication compliance. It is important to remind your loved one to fill their prescriptions and to keep their pills in good order. Reassure them that they’re not crazy.

First, understand the limitations of the individual. Do not put too much pressure on the person. Don’t try to fix the problem for them. Also, don’t make them feel ashamed about themselves. You can encourage the person to seek treatment together. But don’t force them to seek treatment immediately. This could be considered disrespectful and worsen the situation.
