Anxiety symptoms can manifest in many ways. For example, anxiety is felt in my stomach. It feels like a swirling sensation to me. It is approximately the same size as a grapefruit and it swirls clockwise when I focus. It can also cause anxiety in my throat.

Anxiety symptoms can be very intense for many people. You may feel your throat closing or anxiety pains in your body. If you don’t manage your anxiety, these physical symptoms can become a panic attack or full-blown anxiety attack.

These are the most frightening symptoms of anxiety.

There is an easy way for anxiety relief to be achieved and these symptoms will not escalate into a full-blown anxiety attack. It is important to recognize your anxiety and manage it in your body. If you ignore, fight or run from anxiety symptoms, they will only get worse. Recognize and accept the frightening physical symptoms of anxiety.

This is scary because you feel like your anxiety symptoms will only get worse if they aren’t addressed. The opposite is true. Your limbic system (the part of your brain that controls the intensity of emotions such as anxiety) is alerting you to a potential threat. It will make your anxiety worse if you ignore it.

It is simple to let your limbic system know you have received the message. Your brain is always listening, regardless of whether you speak or think. All you need to do to get your brain to listen is to think about a message.

Here’s an example. Let’s say that I feel anxiety in my stomach, anxiety in the heart, and anxiety in the head. I can describe the physical symptoms as a “swirling in my stomach, pressure and tightness in my chest.” This is how my anxiety feels in my body.

The best part? This anxiety relief exercise can be done regularly and you’ll start to rewire your pre-frontal cortex. This is your conscious brain. The exercise will teach your conscious mind how to recognize anxiety as a simple, measurable, and powerful feeling. It’s a series of physical sensations that you experience in your body. It’s an upset stomach. It’s an increase in heart rate. These symptoms can occur when you are anxious, run up stairs, eat poorly-prepared Mexican food, or get a cold. Slowly, but surely, anxiety is reduced and physical symptoms are less severe.
