Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a mental health problem that usually appears in childhood, generally from the age of 7, and is classified as a behavioral disorder. This disorder is characterised by children who are hyperactive (excessive exercise), impulsive, and have trouble keeping their attention on one activity.
This can lead to poor school performance as well as problems in the students’ personal relationships with teachers, friends, and their families.
ADHD CausesAlthough the causes of ADHD are unknown, there have been a number of studies. Some experts believe that there may be a 76% chance for the children of someone with the disorder to also get it. Recent studies have shown that ADHD symptoms can be driven by the environment in which the person lives (unstructured families) and social interactions (conflictual relationships). However, they do not cause the disease.
