Extreme fatigue is a sign of depression. Extreme fatigue is caused by inability to concentrate, difficulty waking up at night, and difficulty falling asleep. These symptoms can be caused by medication or other conditions. Consult a doctor if you have frequent sleep problems. A persistent irritation is another sign of depression. A person may also experience slow reactions, slow movement, or be disturbed.

One of these questionnaires is called the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale, that has 21 questions about your mood. These questionnaires give you an indication of your depression level. Another popular questionnaire is the Beck Depression Inventory. If you have these symptoms, your doctor might refer you to a “clinical depressive disorder”.

How can you help someone suffering from depression?

It is easy to feel helpless when you know someone who has depression. Depression can be debilitating and you can help by offering support. Your loved ones may not be able express their emotions, but your support and love will ease the burden and help the person get back to their normal life. These are some ways you can help someone in their time.

Encourage activity. If you are having trouble focusing on daily tasks, walking with a friend will help you. Make time for each other. Ask them to help with small tasks and be persistent. To avoid burnout, limit the amount of help you offer. Your friend shouldn’t feel under pressure.

How do you talk about depression with someone?

Talking to someone with depression can be hard. Sometimes they might be reluctant to seek help. Everyone has bad days, and it is normal to feel helpless at times. A lack of routine and daily activities can affect self-esteem. You cannot heal depression. You need to have a strong support system and someone who is confident and strong in order to beat depression.

Ask them about their symptoms. Talking to someone with depression can help them feel heard. Asking someone how they are doing will help you to understand their condition and the treatment they need.
