We don't know the time lag between gut bacteria improvement and improved mood.

Even if your depression is not a factor, the Mediterranean diet can reduce your risk of heart attack and stroke. It is possible to modify it to meet your specific needs, such as if you have kidney disease or are lactose intotolerant. The best thing about this diet, regardless of how much you have to adjust it, is the decrease in processed foods and sugar.
