ADHD and Motivation

featured image

Hello Brains! Are you having trouble doing the Right Thing? You are not the only one. Motivation is a major problem ADHDers have to face. This episode focuses on how to fix Motivation Bridge.

I want to thank Doctor B, TakeThis.org, for suggesting the clever phrase “fill-in the planks” and for motivating my work in so many other ways.

A huge thank you to my animators and editors Palestrina & JustCallMeGary, who worked tirelessly to bring Motivation Bridge to life. (And made me cry). You should…you need to sleep now.

ADHD: Evaluating Solutions
and Reviewing the Causes Luis Nunez-Jaramillo, Andrea Herrera-Solis, and Wendy Veronica Herrera-Morales

Why are clients with ADHD experiencing such different symptoms? ADHD symptoms can include anxiety and depression, as well as other disorders. It is important to evaluate clients' physiology, family system, nutrition, exercise and other factors to rule out any possible causes.

This article suggests that ADHD can be associated with different etiologies. Therefore, ADHD treatment should always be tailored to the individual patient. 75% Children diagnosed with ADHD will experience permanent symptoms throughout adulthood.

The majority of reports about neurofeedback for ADHD follow a standard protocol. This could be the same for everyone or it could be adapted for each patient's Q EEG analysis. There is a more personal approach called QEEG informed, or Q EEG-guided neurofeedback. This type of neurofeedback does not allow for the selection of a protocol and application to all participants. Instead, subjects are given a customized neurofeedback protocol after a QEEG analysis. This form of neurofeedback is used successfully in schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), migraine, dementia, and children with learning disabilities.

Only two studies have been published that used Q EEG-informed neurofeedback in ADHD patients. It is therefore not possible to do a meta analysis of the effects of this type neurofeedback on ADHD. Both published studies have shown a positive impact of neurofeedback.
